Hope for Tomorrow is a dedicated charity, bringing cancer care closer to patients’ homes via their Mobile Cancer Care Units (MCCUs).

As a cancer charity, they understand that time is a crucial factor for patients. This is why in 2007 they launched the world’s first ever MCCU to bring vital cancer care closer to patients, enabling them to spend more time with family, friends and loved ones.

They develop, build, provide and maintain MCCUs to support patients who are going through Chemotherapy and other cancer related treatment by alleviating the stresses and strains of travelling for appointments, along with reducing hospital waiting times.

They work in a unique partnership with the NHS, helping to ease capacity challenges at hospital trusts. They now have 14 MCCUs operational in Gloucestershire, South Wiltshire, East Kent, Lincolnshire, West Suffolk, East Essex, London/Surrey, Norfolk and Norwich and West Yorkshire, with three reserve MCCUs in place to ensure continuity of service during the maintenance schedule. They also provide a Nurses Support Vehicle with each MCCU, which allows the nursing team to travel to and from the daily treatment locations.

The charity won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – Innovation, in 2016. The Award is the UK’s highest accolade for business success, and was made in recognition of the achievements since the Founder, Christine Mills MBE, set up Hope for Tomorrow in 2003.

The Chance Encounter legacy
In memory of Christine and Hilary

The Chance Encounter Project was influenced enormously by two very inspirational ladies. Christine Mills MBE, founder of the charity Hope for Tomorrow and Hilary May MBE, Hope for Tomorrow ambassador in Somerset.

The personal involvement of these two wonderful people in the Chance Encounter Film Project, plus the support of many of their friends and family helped us to achieve the objective of raising a substantial amount of money for the charity.

All future Chance Encounter events will be dedicated to the memory of Christine and Hilary. We are blessed with the knowledge that we have these guiding angels influencing everything that we do.
