'CHANCE ENCOUNTER' FILM

The short film (approx 45 mins), shot on location on the West Somerset Railway, features local actors and recreates a journey on the ‘Devon and Somerset Railway’ that used to run between Taunton and Barnstaple before it was closed in 1966.

Set in the late 1950s, 'Chance Encounter’ is a gentle love story about a young couple who meet on the train one summer. It recreates the journey as exactly as possible, by using drone footage of some of the scenery travellers would really have seen out of the train windows at the time, but using stations and footage of the West Somerset Railway and an army of extras to create the atmosphere required.

It is unashamedly nostalgic; be transported back to a different time where a day out on the train was a family event, guards held trains back for late passengers, and going through a tunnel was somewhat exciting!

The film was produced entirely by voluntary contributions. Nobody has been paid and it is a true labour of love to support a charity close to everyone's hearts.
